What Virginia IDN has the most affiliated hospitals?

The Virginia health system with the most hospitals is the Defense Health Agency, with 35 hospitals. It manages the direction, authority, and control of military clinics and hospitals worldwide. It also manages the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) health plan, Tricare.

The health system with the second most affiliated hospitals is Sentara Health, with 14 hospitals. This integrated, not-for-profit health system is one of the largest health systems in the U.S. Southeast and Mid-Atlantic and one of the top 20 largest not-for-profit health systems across the U.S.

Finally, there are three hospitals tied with the third-highest number of hospitals. VCU Health, HCA Capital Division – HCA Virginia Health System, and Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services all have ten hospitals within their networks.

Virginia IDNs may not have as many hospitals in their network as some of the top IDNs in the country, but there is still value in knowing which IDNs have the most expansive networks. The more hospitals in an IDN’s network, the more facilities where your product or service can be distributed and utilized. Thus, knowing which Virginia IDNs have the most hospitals can help pinpoint which IDNs should top your target list.
