Largest IDNs in New Hampshire

Based on population, New Hampshire is the 10th smallest state in the U.S. There are roughly 35 hospitals and healthcare facilities in New Hampshire, many of which are part of an integrated delivery network (IDN).

IDNs are networks of one or more healthcare facilities that can include hospitals, physician groups, imaging centers, health clinics, or ambulatory surgery centers. They may also be referred to as health systems, and the more extensive an IDN’s network, the greater opportunity there is for your company to reach more facilities through one connection.

Using HospitalView, we created two lists: one of the largest IDNs in New Hampshire based on the number of affiliated hospitals and another using net patient revenue (NPR) to find which IDNs in New Hampshire are the most financially successful.

What New Hampshire IDN has the most affiliated hospitals?

The New Hampshire health system with the most hospitals is Dartmouth Health, with seven hospitals that span New Hampshire and Vermont. This health system includes an academic medical center with ties to the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, along with a cancer center and the state’s only children’s hospital.

The health system with the second most affiliated hospitals is Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network, with four hospitals. Despite having multiple hospitals, with its focus on rehabilitation, its patients see longer stays, which leads to fewer patient discharges.

Finally, there are three different health systems with the third-largest number of hospitals: Capital Region Health Care (CRHC), GraniteOne Health, and North Country Healthcare. All three of these health systems have three hospitals.

While the IDNs in New Hampshire do not compare to the largest IDNs in the U.S., knowing which New Hampshire IDNs have the most affiliated hospitals can still guide your healthcare commercialization strategy and show which New Hampshire IDNs should find a spot at the top of your target list.

What New Hampshire IDN has the highest net patient revenue (NPR)?

The IDN in New Hampshire with the highest net patient revenue is Dartmouth Health, with an NPR of over $2 billion. With the largest number of staffed beds and discharges as well, it's understandable how Dartmouth Health also has the largest NPR—it has the capacity to see more patients.

The IDN with the second highest NPR in New Hampshire is SolutionHealth, with an NPR of $953 million. It is a non-profit organization that draws on the knowledge and expertise of provider organizations.

Finally, Capital Region Health Care (CRHC) has the third-highest NPR in New Hampshire, with an NPR of $731 million.

NPR is a common financial metric of IDNs and healthcare organizations, and it can be useful in gauging an IDN’s ability to expand or adopt new services or technologies. However, NPR is not the only metric providing insight into an IDN. For example, all of these top-earning IDNs are system III integration levels, meaning they provide cradle-to-grave services. Knowing this can then provide guidance on which services and technology they would find useful.

When you're looking to sell into New Hampshire’s healthcare industry, having a strategy is essential to ensure that each effort you make produces profitable returns. Specifically, targeted marketing is the best way to reach IDNs, who hold more decision-making responsibility than ever before.
