This is the privacy policy for Monocl AB, corp. id. no 556864-8587 (hereinafter referred to as “We” or “Monocl”). By using our website and by using Monocl EGO or any other product or service, you also agree to this privacy policy.

What Kind of Data Do We Collect?

Personal Data

  • We collect names, IP addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, and sometimes other contact information to our contact person(s) at our customers as well as for our authorized users of Monocl EGO.
  • We never collect any special categories of personal data (as defined in GDPR article 9), such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data, data concerning health or sex life or sexual orientation.

Other Data from Users

  • We may collect job titles and other information.
  • If we receive a question for support, we collect and store the question as well as the answer to the question. We also collect aggregated statistics connected to support issues.

Right to Withdraw Consent

  • Concerning the personal data we collect about you, you always have the right to withdraw your consent by notifying us.

How Do We Store the Data We Collect?

  • We store the data on servers which may reside in the cloud, inside and outside of the EU. Currently, we store the data at Dropbox and Intercom, both self-certified to the EU-US privacy shield.

How Do We Use the Data We Collect?

  • We use the data we collect in order to communicate with and fulfill our obligations towards our customers and authorized users, provide a better user experience, to provide support concerning Monocl EGO, and in order to improve the quality of Monocl EGO and the professional services we provide.
  • We never sell any personal data that we collect from authorized users and customers to a third party.

Security

  • We are committed to ensuring that the data we have collected about you is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the data we collect.

Transfer of the Data We Collect

  • We may transfer the data we collect to other companies in the Monocl Group. We may also transfer the data we collect to a subcontractor, in which case we always enter into a personal data assistant agreement with said subcontractor.
  • We may also transfer the data we collect if required by mandatory applicable law, or in case of a merger and acquisition, in which case we will do our best to ensure that your privacy will be respected.

Database Usage Metrics

  • We save information about how often and when an authorized user logs in to Monocl EGO, in order to follow the degree of activity of each customer and authorized user.
  • We collect information about the users’ history, items clicked and interaction with Monocl EGO, in order to be able to spot deviations from the database’s usual performance. Furthermore, we collect this information because we want to be able to track if anything has gone wrong.
  • We collect information about how much data is exported, how much a user uses certain functions and how many searches the user has performed. This is to ensure that the limitations of fair use are complied with, as well as to protect against account theft or unauthorized access to the account.
  • We collect information about what the users are searching for, and how advanced analyses they make. This is to make sure that the users understand how the database is designed to be used, and to optimize functionality. Furthermore, we wish to design the system to function as well as possible at the same time as it makes information available in an optimal way.
  • We save frequency of searches in order to help with optimization of search strings.
  • We save individual searches performed by authorized users of Monocl EGO in an anonymized format. We also save aggregated information about searches performed, as well as analyses of the same.

User Adoption Metrics

Cookies

  • Cookies are small files that a website or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer.
  • You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can control the use of cookies in the settings of your web browser. If you do not accept cookies, please note that the quality and user experience may be impaired and access to certain functions etc. may not be possible.

Monocl EGO

  • When an authorized user logs in to Monocl EGO, we use a session cookie to ensure that the authorized user will stay logged in, and to verify that the person logging in has the rights to do so.

Our Website

  • We use Google Analytics in order to obtain statistics for marketing purposes and in order to evaluate marketing activities.

Publishing Certificate for Monocl EGO

  • We have obtained a publishing certificate (Sw: utgivningsbevis) for our database included in Monocl EGO, which has been issued by the Swedish Press and Broadcasting Authority. By means of this certificate, we are encompassed by the voluntary constitutional protection available in accordance with the Swedish fundamental law (1991:1469) on freedom of expression, chapter 1, § 9, second paragraph. Since we have a publishing certificate, the Swedish personal data act (1998:204) does not apply for the personal data included in the database, in accordance with § 7. The same will apply for GDPR when it enters into force.
  • Björn Carlsson is the publisher (Sw: ansvarig utgivare) for Monocl EGO.
  • Furthermore, even if we have no obligation to do so, if a person included in the database contacts us and requests that his or her personal data should be removed, we will honour such request and delete the data accordingly.

Changes and Amendments

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. We therefore recommend that you read this policy frequently. The date for the latest updated version is specified at the top of this document.
